Fujifilm's X-Pro1 interchangeable lens official

Fujifilm

Fujifilm's premium digital camera line-up ??the X-Series ??just got a new addition. Its name is the X-Pro1 and it's an interchangeable lens digital camera system. This announcement is of course no surprise to anyone who's been paying attention to camera rumors and gossip over the last few days.

But let's chit-chat about specs, now that things are official.

The new gadget has a 16MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor, which incorporates a newly developed filter array as well as Fujifilm's proprietary EXR Processor technology. The camera features a second generation Hybrid Multi Viewfinder and three prime interchangeable lenses (the ?XF18mmF2 R? (27mm equivalent) f/2.0, ?XF 35mmF1.4 R? (53mm equivalent) f/1.4, and ?XF60mmF2.4 R Macro? (90mm equivalent)).

So what's exciting about this camera system? Well, the CMOS sensor inside it was newly developed by Fujifilm. It is supposedly superior to other APS-C sensors and equal to some full-frame sensors. (Mind you, that's what Fujifilm claimed while announcing the X-Pro1 at the CES 2012.)

Oh, and the new lenses are paired with the X-Mount, which was created to maximize lens performance. It places the rear lens elements as closely to the sensor as possible and reduces the back focus distance ??meaning that you get high resolution all the way to the edge of an image.

Long story short? Sharper, crisper images.

The system will ship in late February. Pricing will be officially announced in late January.
