Years later, new owners still owe for old transgressions ? Business ...

Townsend Oil and Propane bought Nichols Oil & Gas in Macedon seven years ago. Turns out, the company also bought liability for harassment committed more than a decade ago by the former owner.

Under the terms of a just-reached settlement, Townsend must pay $150,000 to women who claim they were sexually harassed by the man who owned and ran Nichols Oil & Gas.

According to the women?s complaint to the EEOC, the owner routinely grabbed their breasts and buttocks and lewdly propositioned them. Although the incidents occurred between 1999 and 2003, they weren?t settled until earlier this year. Nine women filed EEOC complaints before the company was sold in 2005.

The court judged Townsend Oil & Propane, as the new owner, an ?innocent purchaser? that was nonetheless a ?successor defendant? liable for the harm the women suffered.

Note: When purchasing a business, always ask about pending complaints or litigation.

Japanese adventurer feared killed in Russian road accident

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A Japanese adventurer who was cycling across Russia is believed to have been killed on Wednesday in a road accident near the Arctic circle, Russian officials and media said.

Authorities believe a Japanese man who died after being hit by a car from behind on the Kola Peninsula some 300 km (185 miles) south of Murmansk was Haruhisa Watanabe, said Sergei Klyushev, a Russian Foreign Ministry official in Murmansk.

"He died at the scene after sustaining multiple injuries," Klyushev said by phone.

In 2004 at age 22 Watanabe said he had become the second youngest person to climb the highest peaks on all seven continents.

Media reports said he had began his current trip in June in China and had crossed Central Asia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia and Turkey before taking a ferry to Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi and cycling north from there.

White House: Obama remains committed to assault weapons ban ...

President Barack Obama wipes his eye as he speaks about the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, in the briefing room of the White House in Washington. (AP photo)

WASHINGTON (CNN) ? The White House said President Barack Obama supports reinstatement of a federal ban on assault weapons ? a position he took in the 2008 campaign but failed to press during his first term.

?It does remain a commitment of his,? presidential spokesman Jay Carney told reporters as the nation reeled from a mass shooting in Connecticut that mainly killed school children.

An emotional Obama did not address that issue directly in a televised statement from the White House on the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown that killed 26 people but said something had to be done.

?We?re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics,? said Obama, the father of two girls.

He wiped away tears when he spoke of the ?beautiful little kids? killed in the massacre.

Police recovered three weapons from the scene: a semiautomatic .223-caliber rifle made by Bushmaster, a Glock and a Sig Sauer, both handguns, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Others also spoke out for a strong federal response.

?We cannot simply accept this as a routine product of modern American life. If now is not the time to have a serious discussion about gun control and the epidemic of gun violence plaguing our society, I don?t know when is,? Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-New York, said in a statement.

Congress approved a ban on assault weapons in 1994. The prohibition, which expired in 2004, did not eliminate them, but restricted their features, limiting magazine capacity to 10 rounds and regulating pistol grips, bayonet attachments and flash suppressors.

Gun rights generally divide Americans.

A Pew poll conducted after the 2011 assassination attempt on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Arizona, that killed six other people, found that 49% of Americans said it was ?more important to protect the rights of Americans to own guns,? while 46% said it was ?more important to control gun ownership.?

But a survey conducted by CNN/ORC International in August shortly after the deadly theater mass shooting earlier this year in Aurora, Colorado, found that 76% of those surveyed believe ?there should be some restrictions on owning guns.?

Obama supported a platform while running for president in 2008 that included reinstating the assault weapons ban, but has largely avoided the issue of gun control during his first term.

He wrote an opinion piece two months after the Giffords shooting acknowledging the importance of the Second Amendment right to bear arms and called for a ?focus? on ?effective steps that will actually keep those irresponsible, law-breaking few from getting their hands on a gun in the first place.?

Obama said at a presidential debate in October that he wanted a ?broader conversation? in general about reducing gun violence.

?Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced,? he said.

The National Rifle Association, which advocates for gun rights, said in a statement it would not have anny comment on the Connecticut shooting ?until the facts are thoroughly known.?

Kristin Goss, an associate professor of public policy and political science at Duke University and author of ?Disarmed: The Missing Movement for Gun Control in America? earlier this year that the pro gun control side of the issue ?has struggled to come up with a compelling narrative? to convince more people to support stricter gun laws.

?For a long time, these gun violence rates and massacres speak for themselves. They relied on that to make the case but were up against a very powerful but very well disciplined and skillful army that was good at taking those arguments apart,? Goss said.

By Halimah Abdullah, CNN. CNN?s Jessica Yellin and Tom Cohen contributed to this report.

On Walkabout Restaurant Review: Shinsadong Korean BBQ | On ...

Whenever my wife and I drive up to Denver we like to go eat at some of the Korean and Japanese restaurants in the city because of the high quality of many of these restaurants compared to their competitors in Colorado Springs.? Our favorite Korean restaurant is a called Shinasadong Korean BBQ which actually was once located in Colorado Springs.? The restaurant was very popular in Colorado Springs, but was located in a very small building in a strip mall off of Academy Boulevard.? Their new restaurant is located in the Denver suburb of Aurora just off of Parker Road in a strip mall shopping center:

The new building they are in is huge compared to their prior location in Colorado Springs.? The building was once home to another Korean restaurant called Korea House which was shut down and the building remodeled for use by Shinsadong:

The inside of the building is actually quite nice with a lot money put into some nice wood working features within the dining area.? There is also a few large flat screen televisions up that allow people to watch whatever sports games are on at the time.? I am not a big fan of the TVs since it takes away from the Korean atmosphere in my opinion and creates more of a sports bar atmosphere.

The best thing about Shinsadong is the food.? Customers have the option of either having the kitchen cook the food for them or have the food cooked Korean style on a grill at your table.? Pictured below is some Korean samgyeopsal being grilled at our table with small banchan around it:

It seemed that when the restaurant first opened the servers provided more banchan, but have since scaled back.? However, if you ask for a particular banchan they will bring it out for you.? Though not every server does it, but some of them setup the table with the banchan and other food in traditional Korean style which almost makes the table look like a work of art.? This is a small detail I really take notice of and like at a Korean restaurant.? Overall the service I have found to be good during my family?s visits to Shinsadong though it seems they do have quite a turn over in staff because it seems like we see a few new servers every time we go there.? The prices at Shinsadong are affordable with lunch costing mostly between $9.00 ? $15.00 and dinner from $12.00 ? $25.00.? You can see the full food and drink menu at this link.

Shinsadong rates high over at Yelp.com with 4 out of 5 stars and I tend to agree with this ranking.? The food is quite good and of high quality at Shinsadong, but not as good as some of the Korean restaurants I have eaten at in Korea or other places outside of Korea.? However, for the Colorado region Shinsadong has the best Korean BBQ that I have tried yet. Besides the tasty food, the service is good, and the prices reasonable.? So I definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for some quality Korean BBQ in the Denver area.

Family Resemblance

Emily Yoffe: Good afternoon. I look forward to your questions.

Q. Fianc?'s Niece Is His Love Child: My mind is still reeling. My fianc? confessed to me last week that his younger niece is actually his child. He had a short affair with his brother's wife, who conceived the month her husband was away. They ended things just before finding out she was pregnant, and she lied about the dates to cover it up. My fianc? knew all this and said nothing because he didn't want to break up their family. My fianc?'s brother is a good guy and I genuinely like him. I've never seen a man so devoted to his wife and children. I don't know if I can spend the rest of my life being a part of this lie. My future in-laws are a close-knit family and everyone frequently gets together. They actually had a family dinner a few days ago which I've avoided because I don't know how I can look at either my fianc?'s brother or his wife in the eye. I also have complex feelings about the "niece"?biologically speaking, she will be my stepchild! I love my fianc? so much but how can I marry into his family knowing what I know now?

A: Have I got a movie for you! Spoiler alert, but next year be sure to take the entire family to a screening of "August: Osage County" based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play. Let's just say when the major plot twist is revealed, there should be enough squirming in the seats to loosen the bolts. Often in cases where the man who thinks he's the father is not the father there is the potential for a genetic time bomb to go off if some future medical issue in the future reveals the questionable paternity. But in the case of brothers, it's far less likely that even a cheek swab?in the rare event it should it ever come up?would point to your fianc?'s perfidy. Of course this revelation is shocking and you are looking at the family you about to join in a new and deceitful light. I'm generally in favor of the truth, but with caveats. In this case there's nothing to be gained by the truth blasting apart this family. And I hope you are only the third person to be let into the circle of this secret, and that you remain the final one. As despicable as your fianc?'s behavior was, it does speak to his love for you and his desire to have an honest start that he told you. You do not have to make any decisions now. You should be honest with your fianc? and tell him that this is news that's going to take you a while to process. But please fight the "complex" feelings about your niece. Morally, legally, and every other way she is the child of your future brother-in-law and sister-in-law and if you go ahead and marry your fianc? you should be able to look on this girl with love and equanimity.

Q. Felon Father-in-Law: My father-in-law was convicted for a white-collar crime and spent three years in a federal facility. Our children are 6 and 4 and they are permitted to spend time with my father-in-law in a group setting where at least my husband or I are present. My father-in-law is not a violent man, but we know that prison can change people and we do not want to take any risks. We plan to explain my father-in-law's conviction?and consequences?in age-appropriate ways. The issue is that my parents think that my father-in-law should have zero time with the children at all and refuse to have the family in their home or attend a gathering with them (like my daughter's 7th birthday in a few weeks). My parents think that since my father-in-law is a criminal, one the prices that he should pay is limited access to family. They have threatened to sue for grandparent rights, claiming that we are unfit parents by exposing our children to a felon. Any advice for this situation?

A: Given the scope of our economic meltdown and the people at the top who were making millions selling fantasies, I think it's a shame that more families aren't dealing with your dilemma of what to do when the family's financial executive gets out of prison. You say your father-in-law did time for a white-collar crime. Sure prison changes people, but I doubt your father-in-law is flexing his prison tats and hanging out with his homies from Dead Man, Inc. You should tell your parents they need to back way off. Your father-in-law paid his debt to society and he is absolutely no threat to your kids. Say what will be damaging is if they bring a groundless lawsuit that tears your family apart and ends up causing their own estrangement.

Q. Swinging Friends: My closest friends of 35 years are swingers. This has probably gone on for about 20 years, and they seem happy. She told me about it about 20 years ago, and they were both shocked when I didn't think this was great. I decided early on that since they were consenting adults, and kept this well away from their three kids and out of the house, it wasn't my place to judge. She quit telling me some of the details after picking up on my discomfort, and the one time she directly asked my opinion, I was honest and said I thought they were playing with fire. For the past couple of years, it was clear they had formed a relationship with another couple, which was obvious to me?weekends away, etc. The problem is, they now want me to MEET this couple, and in fact had set up a surprise drop-in by them at their home, which was canceled at the last minute. I am terribly uncomfortable with meeting the other couple, but I don't know how to avoid it! How does one greet the people your married friends are sleeping with?

A: It's amazing that at this point in life the fire is still roaring and the heat is not just hot flashes. Your dearest friends have a wild sex life and you've made clear you want to know nothing about it. Apparently they need a reminder. So be blunt: "Mildred I thought I made it clear that I don't want to hear about what you and Sheldon do in your spare time. I'm glad you've found some people you're compatible with, but we don't want to drop by for a surprise meeting of people with whom you drop your drawers."

Q. Confessing My Darkest Secret: I have fallen in love with a wonderful woman, but I harbor a secret I'm terrified will send her running in the other direction. Seven years ago a vengeful ex-girlfriend falsely accused me of raping and beating her. She either hurt herself or convinced someone to hurt her. I was arrested, and my parents spent most of their savings on the lawyer who finally exonerated me. Eventually the cops figured out she lied, though at that point many people at our small college saw me as a rapist. I have undergone extensive counseling and am in a much better place now, but no amount of therapy can calm my fear that when they hear my story, people will go running in the other direction. I love my girlfriend but do not know how to begin to tell her about the false rape accusation. If you are kind enough to answer this question, I seriously hope it doesn't inspire gender-bashing or hyperbole from readers. I just need advice about how to confess this secret.

A: You've been through a terrible trauma and it's something you should share with someone you love. Even though you've had therapy it sounds as if you've absorbed much of the shame that was heaped on you. Perhaps a new therapist can help free you more. Of course you want to put this behind you and not dwell on it, but a righteous indignation instead of fear should inform your feelings. Before you tell your beloved, rehearse what you want to say?you will not be convincing if you speak with an air of terror. Remember you, not your ex, were the victim. Say you want her to know about a terrible episode in your life because it's something important you experienced and because you wouldn't want her to hear a distorted version from someone else. If you have some legal paperwork about your exoneration you can offer to show her, explaining you know such cases can raise doubts in people's minds, and you don't want her to have any about you.

Jonas Cohen and Lisa Jolley Turn the Offbeat Biodrama ?Souvenir ...

SouvenirPHOTO2 HSNandTR2012 Jonas Cohen and Lisa Jolley Turn the Offbeat Biodrama Souvenir into a Night to Remember

Jonas Cohen and Lisa Jolley star in ?Souvenir? (photos by Adam Twiss/Keith Tew)

Every one of us has family members or friends who think that they can sing, but whose caterwauling sets the neighborhood dogs to barking for miles around. Perhaps, no one was more deliriously self-deluded in this regard than 1930s and 1940s New York news media sensation Florence Foster Jenkins (1868-1944), who not only fancied herself as an opera singer with perfect pitch ? but as a coloratura soprano! ? and gave a series of recitals. First came private affairs with invited audiences, but later she gave public performances to raise money for worthy causes.

Jenkins even made a few surprisingly successful recordings ? all without ever realizing that she was a laughingstock for a growing legion of fickle fans, who showed up at her concerts to snigger as she mangled Messrs. Mozart, Brahms, Verdi, etc. (To hear samples of Florence Foster Jenkins? singing, click http://www.youtube.com/.)

Wednesday?s opening-night performance of the current Hot Summer Nights | Theatre Raleigh presentation of ?Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins by Stephen Temperley is a real knee-slapper, starring Lisa Jolley as Jenkins and Jonas Cohen as her long-suffering and increasingly concerned piano accompanist, teacher, and friend Cosm? McMoon, who becomes more and more fearful that one day soon Mrs. J will discover that the joke is on her! But Florence Foster Jenkins is inexplicably oblivious to the smothered laughs and stifled snorts of her audiences.

Broadway veteran Lisa Jolley may be the headliner in the preshow publicity, but the plum part is that of New York actorand pianist Jonas Cohen, who is performing the role of Cosm? McMoon for the fifth time. Cosm? is an openly gay man at a time when most gay men were deep ?in the closet.? He is also temperamental with a capital T, and Cohen squeezes every delicious drop out of this juicy role as Mrs. Jenkins accompanist, teacher, and confidant, who doubles as the show?s narrator of the series of flashbacks occasioned by the 20th anniversary of her death in 1944.

Jenkins? bellows and screeches are fingernails on Cosm??s personal blackboard, yet he endures them for the sake of friendship and a stipend that keeps food on his table and a roof over his head.

Meanwhile, Lisa Jolley plays the supremely self-confident but clueless Florence Foster Jenkins as straight as a die as she butchers aria after aria from the operatic repertoire. It must be tough for this superlative actress and singer to cast aside the keen self-awareness and intelligence that she brings to each role and sing song after song hilariously off-key.

Director Richard Roland gets nicely nuanced, fully three-dimensional performances from Lisa Jolley and Jonas Cohen, and Hot Summer Nights | Theatre Raleigh patrons get a welcome respite from the is-so, is-not childish churlishness of the current election season.

Scenic designer Chris Bernier?s splendid evocation of Mrs. Jenkins? music room, complete with a baby grand piano, and costume designer Vicki Olson?s eye-catching creations ? especially Jenkins? outrageously campy and over-the-top wardrobe for her 1944 Carnegie Hall concert ? also deserve their own special round of applause.

Bravo to the Hot Summer Nights | Theatre Raleigh cast and crew for a thoroughly delightful presentation in which they resurrect one of the most notorious characters in American performing-arts history. Kitsch has never sounded so sweet. Souvenir is truly a night to remember.

Doing your own PR as a start-up, and how to write a press release ...

A few weeks back I spoke at one of Stylist Magazine?s Stylist Network events, which focused on building a world-famous business. While these have formerly focused on vertical sectors, the team told me that at each event they?ve held, how to promote a business, pitch to journalists and write a press release were issues that come up time and time again.

Joining me on the panel was beauty pioneer Jo Malone, who after selling her namesake brand to Estee Lauder in 1999 and remaining at the helm till 2006 founded Jo Loves (joloves.com) last year. She gave an utterly inspirational talk about the four key things she thought were vital to every entrepreneur (summed up wonderfully by Maggie here). Also on the panel was Eimear Lambe, Twitter?s small-business expert, who provided an intro to using the social platform as a startup, and Olivia?Phillips, senior fashion assistant for Stylist, who gave the crowd the lowdown on pitching the mag.

I did a short session on the five things every startup could do for themselves in terms of PR, but couldn?t resist cheating a little and packing in more than that. Giving advice on practical things businesses can do to promote themselves is one thing, but without a plan and a goal, you might be putting your energy into the wrong things.

The two slides I showed the crowd are below; the first contains the six questions most agencies will want to answer before building a PR strategy, so as a business-owner you could do this yourself, the second is a snapshot of some basic tactics that can then be applied to start building buzz. Typically I?d rave about Twitter, but Eimear pretty much had that locked down :)

After the Q&A (which was full of questions, lovely to see) we broke off into separate groups. I took three sessions on writing a press release, with my advice covering the following:

  • A press release is really just a way to send out information, but you can turn this into anything you like. While the most typical format for this for a PR agency is to write a release, a business owner might just want to send out a few emails to key contacts, or tweet a few journalists to meet for a coffee. Don?t be constrained to a traditional press release structure, and do what?s appropriate for your business. There?s no ?doing it wrong? in this respect.
  • Ask yourself if you really need to write the release before you do so. Is what you?re saying really new/interesting/newsworthy? Why will people care? Key influencers get sent hundreds of emails a day with releases or pieces of news in, so yours will have to stand out.
  • What will the headline be of the?news story?a blogger or journalist will write after they receive your release? Take that and make it the headline of your release.
  • Don?t send your release as an attachment, instead copy & paste in plain text into your email using the pitch template at the bottom of this page. It?s a controversial one, since some people don?t actually mind attachments ? but on the whole, most journalists and bloggers tend to dislike them as the excess file size clogs up their inboxes.
  • The same goes for pictures. This splits opinion, but to be safe, it?s better not to send any in your first pitch but have high resolution, good quality images available to send immediately when requested.
  • When pitching, don?t waste your email subject with pointless additions like ?breaking news? (it?s not ?breaking? if you?ve had time to write a press release about it)
  • Don?t use vague terms like ?leading? or ?highly scalable? ? they add nothing to your release and anyone using it to write a story will only strip them out anyway, so don?t waste your time
  • Try not to make tenuous links to current affairs. While I?m all for being seasonal and topical, unless there?s a natural link between your product and a high profile news event, any release that ties the two together is just an awkward read
  • Last but not least, don?t send a release and then be out of reach/go on holiday. It?s a wasted opportunity if someone does get back to you.

While talking this through, I also drew a diagram of the layout of a typical email pitch, which I also thought might be useful to mock up again and share (see below!)

All in all, I had a great time on the night and those I spoke to felt the same. You can find out more business-focused advice and the latest on Stylist Magazine?s events here.

Pa. police: Suspect tried to eat marijuana plant

(AP) ? Perhaps it was a case of the munchies.

Police in northeastern Pennsylvania say an alleged pot dealer tried to destroy evidence by eating a marijuana plant.

The Times-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/Sk4LmI ) that 33-year-old Jeremiah Carmody faces several drug-related charges following events on Monday in Scranton.

Police say Carmody tried to eat the plant after authorities went to his house to serve a warrant.

Authorities ended up seizing the remains of the plant, four pounds of marijuana, digital scales, $2,600 in cash and drug paraphernalia.

Carmody was in Lackawanna County Prison awaiting arraignment Monday night. It wasn't immediately clear Tuesday if he had a lawyer.

Should You Lease Or Buy Commercial Real Estate : simsadler.net

There typically is far more profit to be made in buying commercial real estate than there is in home purchases. Finding the right opportunity is not easy. This article provides a lot of useful information that will make you more knowledgeable of the factors involved in commercial real estate. Learning this information, and following the advice provided, will enable you to make smart and profitable commercial real estate decisions.

Educate yourself about the measurements of NOI: Net Operating Income. Staying in the positive is what you need to do to succeed.

If you rent out your commercial properties, always remember to keep them occupied. You are legally responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of unoccupied spaces. Consider why your property has driven away tenants and try to rectify the situation.

If you have two commercial properties on your short list, you should buy the larger one, if at all possible. Finding the right bank to finance you might be hard, even if you are going for a smaller building. However, buying several units will cause the price of an individual unit to decrease.

When purchasing property, look at the amount of units available. More units equals more money in your pocket. Some investors won?t even visit a property with less than 10 units, and many reach far larger than that.

Commercial property dealings are exponentially more complicated and time intensive than buying a residential home is. Understand, however, that this additional time and effort often translates into higher returns.

Itis customary for the borrower to arrange for the appraisal on a commercial loan. Banks will not allow them to be used later. Therefore, to protect yourself and keep your commercial loan on track, order the appraisal yourself.

Interview your prospective real estate broker to determine what they view as failures and successes, to see if their standards match yours. You need to know how they will measure results. Look for online ratings or complaints. If your own views differ greatly from a potential broker, you two may be incompatible for a business relationship.

Ensure there is adequate access to utilities on the commercial property. You will need access to electricity, water, sewer and maybe gas in addition to any unique need that your business has.

Consider the economy in the area you?d like to buy real estate in before investing there. Commercial property near hospitals or schools have higher property values; these properties are also easier to sell.

After reading the article above, you should have a better grasp of the basics of investing in commercial real estate. Try to stay flexible and always try to think on the fly as you move throughout the real estate market. If you do this, you can be in a good position to get the most profit.

Sim Sadler is a real estate expert and has been buying and selling commercial real estate for over 25 years, through every market you can imagine.

Do Your Own Home be Needed by You Based ... - The Penhall Family

Do you really need your own Home Based Information Products Marketing Business?Hey, if you?re on the list of super wealthy like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet, or if you are a star like Charlie Sheen or Ashton Kutcher, you probably don?t need your own home based business in order to survive.Yes, even though poor Charlie was fired from Two and a Men, he was well paid for a long time at about 2 million dollars per episode and probably has a few dollars tucked away for a wet day. And think about Charlie Sheen?s alternative, Ashton Kutcher? At a reported income of 700,000 dollars per event plus incentives, I actually do not believe he requires a home based business to be able to remain afloat. So, if you are a hollywood or among the super wealthy, you probably don?t need certainly to start your own home based information marketing business. But, how about the remainder of us?I believe we ought to all be starting and building our own home based information products marketing business. Even though we have an excellent work today. Even if you start it just as a sideline to generate extra this bad economy to money. In, and even prior to the economy tanked, thousands of people found out that a good job may disappear in a minute like a puff of smoke. I came across that out myself 3 x in my career.Would not you rather be ready for that, by having your own home based business to drop back on if you need to?Maybe the task you?ve now could be not so good, or you really do not like it and you would want to have the freedom to just say goodbye and go do your own thing.Or, you may be retired, or soon-to-be-retired, and you?re thinking how you?re likely to complement your meager Social Security Checks.A good home based information products and services advertising business may help you do all of that. Why I really believe you do require your own home based information marketing business.Millions of men and women dream of beginning their own home based business that?s. Are you currently one particular millions? It is wonderful if you are, but please do not end up like lots of the dreamers who sometimes follow after each new ?opportunity? and never really succeed, or dream and dream, but never start. Or, they do begin some type of property business and then give up too early. Achievement doesn?t come as rapidly as they anticipated so they lose faith, or do not know what to accomplish next.If you dream of having your own home business, you can finally take up a legitimate home business that?s the best possibility of being successful. Why wait any longer?Imagine being able to concentrate on one good home based business, data goods marketing, so you can quit wasting your time and money trying out every new ?opportunity? that looks good. Imagine starting your own info-products marketing house based business and becoming effective in it.You could be asking ?Can I Be Successful With My Own Home Based Information Products Marketing Business??I believe it is possible to! But, you?ve to do it. I can not take action for you personally. All I will do is support you along the way with articles like this, and to ask you take a peek at the several data items advertising relevant internet sites and websites on the internet. Just do a Google search, as an example, utilising the search term ?information goods advertising property based business.? Review the information provided by the web sites that derive from your search and then get started.Just tune in to a couple of examples of people like you who began with little or nothing and earned a good part-time income, or even mega-bucks marketing information:I am an excellent example as somebody who moonlighted and made some great part-time additional income with information marketing. I was working for a department of a medium-sized business as their Marketing Manager. I decided I had to do some thing quietly so I could ultimately escape the organization rat race. One of the things I enjoyed doing in my own spare time was painting with oil paints or acrylic paint. Over the years, I had found several good methods to spend less on art and art supplies and chose to help other artists and craftspeople do the same. Therefore I wrote and self-published just a little 32 page pamphlet titled ?How To Save Up To 60 Percent On Art And Craft Supplies.? It cost 50 cents to me to produce and it was sold by me for 5 dollars. Throughout a few years I bought almost 8,000 copies and earned 39,213 dollars in revenue. I am number Charlie Sheen or Ashton Kutcher, so I really appreciated the additional money.A classic example of a fortune was earned by someone who in information advertising (a lot more than I made) is Joe Karbo. Joe was one of the those who encouraged me to start my own, personal data marketing area business.Joe was facing bankruptcy when he lost his high paying job. He spoke a number of lawyers to see how he could avoid a bankruptcy. In the process he learned just how to discuss with his creditors and made a decision to publish a, ?The Power of Money Management?, which he bought using direct response adverts in journals and local papers in the Southern California region. The book was a success overnight and Joe prevented bankruptcy.Later, through the mid 70?s, he published yet another book in just six days that has become an Classic??The Lazy Man?s Method to Riches.? He offered nearly three thousand copies at 10 dollars each. I bought a copy and I loved it.Ted Nicholas, yet another information marketing uniform, tells the story of Matt Furry. Matt is a person who adopted Ted?s case. His Internet business was begun by matt in 1995. He was 50,000 pounds with debt. He had to scrape together 317 dollars to get one of Ted?s home-study courses. Ted used the subject ?You a Millionaire Writer?? in his offer for the course, which fascinated Matt enough to buy it.Ted says that so far, Matt has offered a fantastic 30 thousand dollars worth of information products on the Internet. Ted describes Matt?s organization as lean and mean with no personnel and no debt. Wow! I am inspired by that. What about you?Dan Kennedy, a tiny business advertising expert, tells the story of somebody he knows who works a 750 thousand pounds per year information business basically off of a dining table, just trying to sell information to pot-bellied pig entrepreneurs. How?s that for a niche that sure does not seem like it may support that degree of business?Tim Kerber, a membership site pro, uses one of his ?student?s? knowledge as an incident study of exactly what do be performed with data advertising membership sites. His student is Carrie Wilkerson. Carrie is a mom who began her business with no experience and a child on her arm. Carrie is currently considered an expert in her own right, is just a popular public speaker, has 10,000 people on her set of prospects and clients, and was reported to be on course to produce six figures in her first year. And she did all of this within just a year.I may go on forever with data marketing success story after success story. I love being encouraged by others who have done it. But, that is enough for you to have the idea. Even though I know, and you know, these benefits are not standard, you can note that with some amount of skills and abilities, an excellent work ethic, focus, endurance, and action, success is possible. You can do it!Selling information has been described by information marketer Terry Dean as the most exciting and satisfying business any businessman can, or ever will be, involved with.Millions of dollars worth of information goods are being sold each day throughout the world. All of the important success stories on line include trying to sell information in a single kind or another.OK. Think about you?If you?re not Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Charlie Sheen or Ashton Kutcher, Isn?t it time you started by yourself achievement quest as an ?Infopreneur??

Keep Calm and Love Affectionately: Kids Need to See Affection ...

Marriage

by Sheree Adams ?|? on September 25th, 2012 ?|?

?Don?t worry that your children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you?. ~ Robert Fulghum

Truer words have never been spoken. Just last week, my husband called home. We were running around, so I put him on speakerphone. As I was rushing our kindergartener out the door to catch the bus, she briefly spoke to him and ended the conversation with her usual: ?I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!? I abruptly yelled toward the phone and said: ?Let me get her out to the bus?call ya back!? My daughter immediately looked up at me and said in a worried voice, ?Wait! Mom, don?t YOU love him??? You didn?t SAY it!!? I was speechless. I said: ?Honey I was in hurry. Of course I love him!?

I shared my daughter?s concern with my husband in brief conversation, but I really wanted to delve a little bit deeper. You see, for most of my life, I grew up in a single parent household with the closest example of what a healthy couple looked like being my adorable grandparents ? who by the way have been married for 60 years! ?My husband and I discussed a while back that kids need to see us being affectionate towards one another and for us not to sneak kisses or use PDA discreetly, especially while we are in the comfort of our home.

What sparked the conversation back then was, as a newlywed, my husband smacked me on my butt in front of my then 5-year-old. I FREAKED OUT!! He told me to calm down and that it was just his way of being affectionate. Then it hit me (no pun intended), I remembered my grandfather doing the same thing to my grandma, so of course this was harmless. He said his dad did the same thing to his mom. ?And if I remember correctly, on Good Times, I ?remember that James Evans use to do the same thing to Florida a time or two! LOL

All in all, its equally important for our kids not only?to feel like their parents are in a healthy relationship, but also to ?see? it. When they are older, began to ?talk? about quality traits to look for in a mate. Now that my husband and I have been reminded that we are on closed circuit TV and monitored carefully by our offspring, we can now ?Keep Calm and Love Affectionately?. ?It was definitely a little eye-opener for us to behave and act accordingly. It?s also refreshing to know that my daughter, at age 5, knows that ?I love you?s? should be exchanged frequently and to put us in check even if we didn?t know we needed it!

BMWK, are you on and your mate on your P?s and Q?s in front of your ?kids?

Obama THANKS Egyptian President For Protecting US Embassy After Protesters Storm Grounds & Torch US Flag

Storm the US Embassy ? Get a Thank You Note?
It?s the Obama Way.

Barack Obama sent a letter to Egypt?s Muslim Brotherhood President after protesters stormed the embassy and torched the US flag.

Hundreds of protesters stormed the walls of the compound on 9-11, torched the US flag and started raising the black Islamic flag.

Reuters reported:

President Barack Obama has thanked the Egyptian president for securing the U.S. Embassy during protests against a film made in the United States that mocked Prophet Mohammad and sparked worldwide demonstrations and violence.

Obama?s rival in the U.S. presidential race, Mitt Romney, called for a tougher line with Egypt after protesters scaled the compound wall and tore down the U.S. flag on September 11.

Police clashed with demonstrators for four days after that incident and barriers were erected to stop them getting near the compound.

In a letter, Obama repeated Washington?s condemnation of the film and said he looked forward to working with President Mohamed Mursi to build on the ?strategic partnership?, Mursi?s official Facebook page said on Sunday.

?In his letter, President Obama thanked the Egyptian president for Egyptian efforts to secure the mission of the United States in Cairo,? according to the site.

South Carolina State Vs. Texas A&M Final Score: Aggies Win Rout, 70-14

The Texas A&M Aggies used a huge second quarter to bury the South Carolina State Bulldogs on their way to a 70-14 win on Saturday night in College Station.

Freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel played only one half, but put together quite a stat line while scoring four straight touchdowns for the Aggies. To start the second quarter, Manziel rushed for touchdowns of 39 and 20 yards. He followed that up with two touchdown passes: a 30-yard score to Kenric McNeal, and a 37-yard strike to Uzoma Nwachukwu.

After Ben Malena added a 50-yard touchdown run, Texas A&M had a 49-7 halftime lead and the game was very much over. Texas A&M scored the only points of the third quarter when Dustin Harris returned a punt 96 yards for a touchdown.

When the game mercifully reached its end, the Aggies had outgained South Carolina State, 448-223.

Box Score Hero: QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M. In one half, the freshman was 15-20 for 174 yards and three touchdowns through the air, with 78 yards and two more touchdowns on the ground.

Rankings Ramifications: Texas A&M was well outside of the top 25, and this game will not likely change that.

But Did They Cover? A line of 45.5 isn't always easy to cover, but Texas A&M did just that.

For More On This Game: Visit Texas A&M blog Good Bull Hunting.

Next Week's Schedule: South Carolina State returns to MEAC play against Norfolk State. Texas A&M hosts Arkansas in its second SEC game of the year.

Woman jailed for not deleting Facebook posts

57 min.

A woman was jailed after ignoring a judge?s order to delete her Facebook account after comments she made on the site about her own reckless driving prompted the order.

According to Louisville, Ky., NBC affiliate WAVE, victims of a hit-and-run car accident, in which Paula Asher was allegedly at fault, were so upset by her post that the court had to step in. "My dumb (expletive) got a dui and I hit a car?lol,? Asher wrote on her Facebook profile soon after the incident took place.

The careless status update apparently prompted the parents of the four teenagers who were in the other car at the time to notify District Judge Mary Jane Phelps about the statement who, in turn, demanded that Asher disable her page. When she did not comply, Phelps slapped Asher with a two-day jail sentence for contempt of court.

"I really wasn't trying to make fun of (the crash)," Asher said.

According to Lex18.com, a Lexington, Ky., NBC news site, police believe Asher's car struck a vehicle that four teens were riding in and then fled the scene of the accident before police arrived.

It's unclear if Asher was ordered not to discuss the case prior to creating the post. It's also unclear under which law Phelps ordered Asher to stop using Facebook.

Asher will be back in court with Phelps to face the charges outlined in her Facebook post on on Sept. 27.

"I apologize to everybody," she said. "I apologize to the judge. I didn't mean to hurt anybody," Asher said.? "I didn't think 'lol' would put me in jail."

Why Humanity Needs to Travel to Other Stars

HOUSTON ? Launching a mission to another star could teach us not just about space, but about Earth as well, experts argued here today at the 100 Year Starship Symposium.

"I believe space exploration is a human imperative," said Mae Jemison, the first female African American astronaut. "It didn?t begin in 1957 with Sputnik, it's been a part of us" all along.

Jemison is heading the 100 Year Starship initiative, which aims to mount a mission to another star within 100 years. Toward that end, scientists and thinkers from a variety of disciplines gathered for a public symposium here from Sept. 13 to 16 to discuss the motivations, challenges and possible solutions for pursuing interstellar spaceflight.

"I'm excited for the opportunity we have to pioneer tomorrow's technology and to reimagine our future," former President Bill Clinton, who is the symposium's honorary chair, said via a video address today (Sept. 14). "I only wish I could be here 100 years from now to make the trip."?

The 100 Year Starship project was founded with seed money from the Defense Advanced Research Projects agency (DARPA), and is now being run by Jemison's Dorothy Jemison Foundation for Excellence. The program's leaders aim to recruit not just scientists and engineers, but psychologists, sociologists, religious leaders and philosophers to help solve the problems posed by interstellar travel.?[Gallery: Visions of Interstellar Starship Travel]

Because the nearest star is more than 4 light-years away, the fastest spacecraft ever built, Voyager 1, would take 75,000 years to get there. A realistic mission to another star system will require novel propulsion methods, as well as new life support, habitat technology and social structures to support what could be multiple generations of astronauts making the journey.

"We need the full capacity of the people we have on this planet to figure out how to do this," Jemison said. She also stressed the importance of outreach to involve the public in the project. "I know that we would be on the moon right now if we had kept the American public involved. They didn?t leave us, we just left them out. We have to change the idea that space is just for rocket scientists, and nowadays billionaires. It's actually for everybody."

The payoff of such a mission could be felt not just in space but on the ground, she said. For example, one of the leading ideas for how to power a starship is nuclear fusion propulsion. Since fusion is also a potential way to create energy on Earth, the process of inventing such a technology for spaceflight could have applications for our planet, too.

"Just the mere idea of going might transform life on Earth right now," Jemison said.
